About the Keyword Density Checker

The Keyword Density Checker strips a page down to its visible text (scripts, styles and markup removed) and counts every single word, 2-word and 3-word phrase. Densities are shown as a percentage of total words, with built-in English and German stopword filtering so the terms that actually define your topic rise to the top.

Use it to compare your page against the top-ranking competitor for the same query: matching their phrase coverage — not their exact density — is what closes content gaps. Pair with the Meta Tag Analyzer to align title and description with your strongest phrases.

There is no magic number, but well-ranking pages typically keep the main keyword between 0.5% and 2.5% of total words. Anything far above that starts to read as keyword stuffing — modern search engines rank topical coverage and natural phrasing, not repetition.

Most searches are multi-word. Two- and three-word phrase counts reveal which long-tail combinations your page actually emphasizes — often more actionable than single-word counts for optimizing headings and internal anchor texts.

Stopwords are ultra-common words like "the", "and", "der", "und" that carry no topical meaning. Filtering them (English and German lists are built in) surfaces the words that actually define your content.
