Review Request Templates

Ready-to-send review requests for SMS, WhatsApp, email and receipts — neutral wording that stays within Google's review policy.

Your details

Paste your Google Maps link or the share link from the Maps app — or type your business name below and pick it from the list. Either way you get the direct review link.

Before you send: in Germany a review request by SMS or WhatsApp counts as advertising, just like email (BGH, VI ZR 225/17) — send it only to customers who agreed to receive messages from you.

About the Review Request Templates

Review Request Templates writes the message for you: ready-to-send requests for SMS and WhatsApp, email, a few words at the counter, a line on the receipt and a social media post — in German (du or Sie) or English, with your review link, business name and the occasion filled in. Every text can be edited and opens directly in WhatsApp, your SMS app or your mail program.

The wording follows Google's review policy: it asks every customer for an honest opinion, never for a particular rating, and offers nothing in return. The best moment to ask is right after the service, while the experience is fresh. Get your link from the Google Review Link Generator and a printable card from the Review QR Code & Card Maker.

Shortly after the service, while the experience is fresh — the same day or the next. A hairdresser asks at the checkout or sends a message in the evening, a tradesperson after the job is done, a shop a few days after delivery. Ask once; one friendly reminder is the maximum.

No. Google forbids any incentive for posting a review — discounts, freebies, prize draws — as well as asking only satisfied customers (“review gating”) and asking for a particular star rating. The policy also covers review quotas for staff and asking for reviews that mention a specific employee.

Careful: the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) ruled that a review request sent by email counts as advertising (judgment of 10 July 2018, VI ZR 225/17) — SMS and WhatsApp are treated the same way. The safe route is the customer's prior consent. Whether the exception for existing customers in § 7 (3) UWG applies is disputed; if you rely on it, every message needs a note that the customer can object at any time. This is not legal advice.

Use what you use with your customers anyway. Cafés, bars, gyms and many shops say du; doctors, lawyers, tradespeople and hotels mostly say Sie. In doubt, Sie is never wrong — every German template exists in both forms.

No. The texts are put together in your browser. Only a share link from the Maps app is expanded once on this server, so the direct review link can be read from it, and for name suggestions this server asks Google Maps — without your IP address. Nothing is stored.
